ALASKA

details
Alaska started life as the follow on project to AEON, Duncan Harris' extremely popular XBMC GUI Skin. Simplifying ideas and designs from AEON and bringing a more clean and crisp look, Alaska became even more popular than AEON very quickly. But before DJH was able to finish the project, he decided to bow out.

Original Statement by Duncan Harris:

"Alaska is a new interface for XBMC being developed alongside Aeon. With a simple layout, sophisticated animations and seamless transitions between all of its windows, you could even call it the 'anti-Aeon'. The goal is to create a complete, attractive and usable UI within weeks rather than months."

Obviously since then DJH had relinquished Alaska to the public to finish. Hitcher took on that responsibility and has brought Alaska to a fully usable interface and finished project.

Key features:
  • Ubiquitous elements include Now Playing widget and RSS (visible everywhere, never disturbed by screen transitions)
  • High performance at 1080p
  • Incredibly easy to mod (just tweak the backdrop filter and font colours for graphite, brushed metal themes, etc.)
  • Very simple - n00b-friendly throughout
  • Seamless transitions between all windows create single unified environment
